Project: 6Aika: ILPO – Climate positive business parks and value chains

Project partners: City of Turku (Lead partner), Business Tampere Oy, Lounais-Suomen jätehuolto Oy, Tampereen University and City of Vantaa.
Funding: The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Six Cities and the State of Finland along with other project implementers are funding 6Aika -strategy and its circular economy projects.
Several Finnish cities are implementing actions with cooperation partners to contribute to climate change mitigation and carbon neutral future for our cities. To achieve cities’ ambitious carbon neutrality targets, cities need to act. This needs also involvement and commitment of actors and organizations from all fields of the society.
6Aika: ILPO project offers support for companies to develop low emission services and business in Turku, Vantaa and Tampere region. We bring together different actors from from field of circular economy to find new solutions. We develop emission calculation and carbon roadmaps to different value chains, business parks and circular economy hubs. The activities take place in Topinpuisto circular economy hub in Turku, upcoming circular economy hub in Vantaa and companies dealing with value chains in Tampere region.
We invite companies to cooperate with us. We can offer sparring, research and studies as well as service procurement for innovative pilots.
Cooperation can take place in the following fields:
compensation of carbon emissions and development of carbon sink solutions
emission calculation models for businesses
resource efficient business, and value and service chains
low carbon transport and logistics
opening, managing and utilising logistical data of value chains
As a result of the project and pilots, a scalable model for a climate-positive business parks will be developed. The lessons learned will be shared in Circhubs -network – a joint network of cicular economy hubs in Finland and with other interested parties.
